Vladimir P. Devens

Mr. Devens received his B.A. in economics with high honors from the University of California at Berkeley, where he graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He received his J.D. from the University of California, Boalt Hall School of Law where he was an Associate Editor of the Industrial Relations Law Journal. Mr. Devens practiced with the law firm Ikazaki, Devens, Lo, Youth & Nakano and worked as a police officer with the Honolulu Police Department before joining Winer Meheula & Devens LLP in 1995.

Mr. Devens' practice emphasizes litigation, personal injury, auto accidents, slip and fall injuries, wrongful death, products liability, work related injuries and commercial litigation. He has litigated a variety of cases and has successfully handled several complex personal injury cases including an $825,000 settlement in a products liability case involving an auto stacking device used for shipping, a $600,000 settlement in a wrongful death case arising out of a hunting accident, a $525,000 settlement involving an adult who drowned in a City owned pool, a $450,000 settlement in a wrongful death case arising out of a boating accident, and a $410,000 settlement involving ADA securement standards on a City bus.

Mr. Devens has represented a variety of clients including SHOPO (State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers) and the boxing organization Golden Gloves of Hawaii. Fluent in Japanese, Mr. Devens has represented several corporations from Japan. Currently Mr. Devens continues to work with the Honolulu Police Department in a reserve officer capacity, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Consumer Lawyers of Hawaii.
